Check out Candi Carpenter’s version of Dolly Parton’s song “Little Sparrow”

Her name might not be familiar yet, but singer-songwriter Candi Carpenter is going to have a breakout year in 2020.

Like so many of today’s country superstars, Candi’s parents started giving her music lessons early, including saxophone and piano lessons when she was only six years old.  She toured and performed with her parents’ gospel band was discovered by a Nashville talent scout when she was only 11 years old.  Her family moved to Nashville when she was 15 to support her music career.  She toured and performed with veteran artist Jack Greene for a few years, and was a regular performer on Lower Broadway and other Nashville music venues before she was even old enough to drive.

Fast forward to 2019 and Candi is about to release an EP with several songs produced by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile.  She also earned a lot of attention for her version of the classic Dolly Parton song “Little Sparrow,” which she performed at the Grand Ole Opry during the recent 50th Anniversary celebration for Dolly Parton.

New Music This Week on 95 Country

We’re adding new songs from two mega-superstars this week, Carrie Underwood and Hootie & The Blowfish.

Hootie & The Blowfish?  Yes.  Darius Rucker has brought his band we all listened to in college back together for a new album called Imperfect Circle, and they’ll soon be announcing dates for a nationwide 2020 tour.  The group is making the rounds on TV this week, so you can catch Darius and his band this Tuesday on The Ellen Degeneres Show, Wednesday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Thursday on The Talk.  We’re adding his/their new song “Hold On” this week!

“Drinking Alone” is the fourth single from Carrie Underwood’s album Cry Pretty.  Carrie Underwood has been nominated for three CMA Awards this year:  Album Of The Year, Female Vocalist Of The Year, and the award everyone wants to win, Entertainer Of The Year.  I personally think this is her year to win Entertainer.  Her “Cry Pretty 360” summer tour was massive.  Her new album is certified Gold.  No one in country music had a bigger year than Carrie, and I think she’s gonna win Entertainer on November 13th.
