The hurricane is predicted to pass over Concordia Parish in the early hours of Thursday morning, bringing heavy rains and potentially dangerous wind conditions.

Preparation Guidelines for Schools:

In response to these predictions, Vanier emphasized the need for local schools to take precautionary measures in preparation for the storm. The following steps were provided to ensure the safety of school buildings and grounds:

  3. Secure Outdoor Equipment: Any loose items or outdoor equipment should be stored or properly secured to avoid hazards.
  4. Communicate with Custodians: School leaders are advised to stay in close contact with their head custodians, ensuring they are readily available to provide updates and coordinate necessary actions.
  5. Sandbag Pickup: Schools in need of sandbags can collect them from the prison on Hwy 15 at the following times:
    • September 10: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    • September 11: 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Potential School Closures:
